To create an alarm, first determine what signal is to be monitored. Once the signal is specified, the operator can populate the channel, signal, comparator, trigger time, and alarm severity fields. After filling in these fields, simply click add alarm to place it into the alarm manager's queue.
In the illustrated example, the unix_time signal on the OPENINS_NAV_SOLUTION channel is set to trigger a Severe warning to the operator if the timestamp is greater than 1500 seconds for a trigger time of 0 seconds.
Alarm Field | Description |
Channel | The channel on which the operator wishes to listen for an alarm. |
Signal | The specific signal the operator wishes to monitor. |
Comparator | The three comparator options are "less", "equal", "greater", and will trigger an alarm based off this setting. |
Trigger Time | The amount of time the alarm conditions are allowed to persist before the Alarm Manager triggers an alarm. |
Severity | The three options are "warning", "severe", and "fatal". |
Audible | The audible check box allows an alarm to be configured to trigger an alarm buzzer. Once created, an alarm's audible setting can be changed in the "action" field. Type "audible" in this field to achieve an audible outcome. If the action field is already populated, type "audible" to make the alarm audible. |
