DAGR Communications Settings
The DAGR requires specific communications settings to work with the Defender and Greensea EOD Workspace.
To set up the required communications settings, begin by turning on the DAGR.
- Press the PWR button.
- Some messages may appear during the boot process. You can acknowledge/clear these by pressing the ENTER button for each message.
- When the system has completed the boot process and the main page is displayed, press the MENU button to access the menu system.
You will now see the menu for the main display page.
- Press the MENU button again to access the MAIN MENU.
- Press the Down Arrow button as necessary to access the Communications Settings selection.
- Press the ENTER button to confirm your selection.
Navigate to the COM Port Setup with the Communications Settings.
- Press the Down Arrow button to select the COM Port Setup selection.
- Press the ENTER button to confirm your selection and access the COM Port Setup settings.
- Press the Down Arrow as necessary button get to the COM 1/2 REDUNDANT selection.
The DAGR's COM Port 2 must be configured as show here:
- The output protocol must be set to NMEA.
- The output NMEA sentence must be set to GAA.
- The output interval must be set to 1 second.
- The baud rate must be set to 115200.
- The output parity must be set to None.
We need to configure COM Port 2 to communicate with the Defender Operator Control Console.
- With the selection on COM Port 1, press the ENTER button to be able to select COM Port 2.
- Press the Down Arrow button to change to COM Port 2.
- Press the ENTER button to confirm your selection.
You are now ready to configure COM Port 2 with the proper settings to communicate with the Defender Operator Control Console.
- Press the Down Arrow button and then the Right Arrow button to get to the OUT PROTOCOL selection.
Change the OUT PROTOCOL to NMEA.
- Press the ENTER button to access the OUT PPROTOCOL options.
- Press the Down Arrow button to select the NMEA protocol.
- Press the ENTER button to confirm your selection.
If you are planning to send coordinates to the DAGR, repeat these steps for the IN PROTOCOL to set it to NMEA.
- Press the Down Arrow button to move on to the OUT BAUD Rate selection.
Change the OUT BAUD Rate to 115200.
- Press the ENTER button to access the OUT BAUD Rate options.
- Press the Down Arrow button as necessary to select the 115200 baud rate.
- Press the ENTER button to confirm your selection.
If you are planning to send coordinates to the DAGR, repeat these steps for the IN BAUD to set it to 115200.
- Confirm that the OUT PARITY is set to None (which is the normal default and should already be set). If it is not set to None, it must be changed to None using similar steps (these steps are not shown above).
- Press the Down Arrow button to move on to the OUT PARITY selection.
- Press the ENTER to access the OUT PARITY options.
- Press the Arrow button as necessary to select the OUT PARITY of None.
- Press the ENTER button to confirm your selection.
If you are planning to send coordinates to the DAGR, repeat these steps for the IN PARITY to set it to None.
Press the Down Arrow button as necessary, then the Left Arrow button to move on to the NMEA INTERVAL selection.
Change the NMEA INTERVAL to 1 second.
- Press the ENTER to access the NMEA INTERVAL options.
- Press the Right Arrow button, then the Down Arrow button to change the 02 to 01.
- Press the ENTER button to confirm your selection.
- Press the Down Arrow button then the Left Arrow button to move on to the NMEA SENTENCES selection.
Change the NMEA Sentence to GGA.
- Press the ENTER button to access the NMEA SENTENCES options.
- Press the Up Arrow button to select the GGA SENTENCE option.
- Press the ENTER button to confirm your selection.
- Press and hold the Status button to initiate the Back soft key function and exit the configuration settings.
The settings are saved automatically. If you receive a message requesting whether to save your settings, select Yes.
