Your mean altitude [1] is your average recorded altitude [1]. Altitude [1] is measured in distance above sea level. This default measurement is in meters. If you prefer, go to the defaults menu and change the measurements to imperial. This will make your altitude [1] as well as the rest of the UI [2] measured in feet rather than meters.
